  • First you need to know, What is Freemasonry?.
  • Then you need to know, Who Are Integrity Lodge and Why Should I Join?
  • Finally you may wonder, What Else Do I Need to Know?

What Is Freemasonry

For Freemasons, there are four important values that help define their path through life: Integrity, Friendship, Respect and Service. In today’s world filled with uncertainty, these principles ring as true now as they have at any point in the organisation’s history.

Membership is open to men over 18 from all backgrounds and the organisation’s aim is to empower members to be the best they can be – it’s about building character, supporting members as individuals and helping them make a positive contribution to society.

Freemasonry provides a structure for members to come together under these common goals, enabling people to make new friendships, develop themselves and make valuable contributions to charitable causes. We are one of the largest charitable givers in the country second only to the National Lottery

For Freemasons, there are four important values that help define their path through life: Integrity, Friendship, Respect and Service. In today’s world filled with uncertainty, these principles ring as true now as they have at any point in the organisation’s history.

Building good people

Freemasons are focused on building themselves as people of integrity, and membership provides the structure to help achieve that goal. Being a Freemason gives members a sense of purpose, supporting and guiding them on their journey through life.

Collectively, members are bonded through an understanding of unity and equitability – principles fundamental to Freemasonry.

Building together

Freemasonry provides the common foundation for friendships between members, many of which will last for life.

Being a Freemason means something different to each person who joins, but whether looking to make acquaintances or develop their own potential, all members share a sense of togetherness that strengthens their ability to succeed and grow.

Building unity

Freemasonry brings people together irrespective of their race, religion, or other perceived differences that can divide us as a society.

Members are expected to be of high moral standing and are encouraged to talk openly about what the organisation does and what it means to be part of it.

Service Focus

Whether participating in events, fundraising for a charitable cause or volunteering for public or community organisations, service is at the very heart of Freemasonry.

Our members make valuable contributions by donating time, resources and skills.

Who Are We?

Despite being a very old Lodge (founded 1825), we pride ourselves on being a modern and forward-thinking example of a Masonic Lodge whilst always respecting our traditions.

Being situated in Morley, in West Yorkshire, it’s not a surprise that many of our members of yesteryear were involved in the woollen trade. Equally it’s no surprise that nowadays none of them are!In fact, our members are drawn from every walk of life. What we value is not what you do for a living but what you are like as a person.

The average age of the last six new members over the last two years is 34. We have a stable but growing membership many of whom have enjoyed many years in the Lodge.

We hold many social events including a Sunday Lunch, a Ladies Evening and a Lodge Weekend. We value the involvement of our wives and partners and fully understand that without their support and encouragement our continuing membership would be difficult.

Equally importantly we need those who know how to enjoy themselves and have a good sense of humour. Freemasonry does include some more formal parts to our meetings and sets great store on charitable giving but without enjoyment and fun we would not have members for long.

What Else do I Need to know?

When Do We Meet?

We currently hold our main monthly meeting on the Wednesday on or before the full moon every month of the year (This was so that members could find their way home safely before the invention of street lighting).

During the rest of the month we still meet informally every Wednesday evening for a drink and to enjoy each other’s company.

How Much Does It Cost?

Partly because we meet all year round we don’t claim to be one of the cheaper Lodges our current annual subscription (2026) is £ 360.

The cost of meals following our monthly meeting is currently £ 22.

Who can become a Freemason?

Membership of a masonic lodge is open to men, normally over the age of 21, regardless of race, religion, occupation, sexual orientation or social background.

Freemasons are guided by three great principles;

  • Brotherly Love – show tolerance and respect the opinions of others. Behave with kindness and understanding of our fellow creatures.
  • Relief – practise charity and care by charitable giving and voluntary efforts.
  • Truth – strive for truth and moral standards.

Do Freemasons give other Freemasons preference or extra help?

Freemasons are strictly NOT allowed to give preferential help to other Masons. When a Freemason takes his obligations one of the key points is that he does not expect material gain from joining Freemasonry.

The use by a Freemason of his membership to promote his own or anyone else’s business, professional or personal interests is strictly frowned upon.

A Freemason’s strict duty as a citizen must always be more important than any obligation to another Freemason.

If you are looking to join The Freemasons for a ‘leg up’ or ‘networking opportunities’ then you are best to not apply!

Is Freemasonry a Religion?

Freemasonry is not a religion, nor a replacement for a religion. However, to become a Freemason one must express a belief in a single supreme being.

Freemasonry has no theology, and no particular faith, but our ‘Volume of the Sacred Law’, which in the Integrity Lodge is a bible, could just as easily be the Koran, Bhagavad Gita or Granth Sahib

It is forbidden for religion to be discussed at meetings.
